Monitoring Service Descriptions

Server Standard Monitor - The Server Standard monitoring service is designed to test any type of server at both an ICMP Ping level as well as a Port connectivity level. Unlike competing server monitors that only do an ICMP Ping of the network device, our service also performs more advanced testing which verifies that specific ports on your server or network device are responding at the TCP protocol layer. By doing advanced port testing, we are able to detect a wider range of failures and gather more accurate performance data.

Website Basic Monitor - The Website Basic monitoring service is designed to test individual pages on your website and verify that they are responding correctly by doing a basic analysis of the server response and HTTP headers received from the web server. The Website Basic monitor does not perform real user simulation testing like the Website Standard does. This level of testing is able to detect most types of failures, but not all. As a result, the Website Basic monitor is only recommended for web pages of low importance.

Website Standard Monitor - The Website Standard monitoring service is designed to test web pages and/or forms on your website by doing an advanced analysis of the server response, HTTP response, data transfer, and page contents. The Website Standard monitor tests your web pages by simulating a real user’s interactions with your website. This allows us to detect all possible failures and get the most accurate data about a user’s experience on your website. The Website Standard Monitor also includes many added features not offered by our other monitors. These features include the ability to capture screenshots of pages that are throwing errors, the ability to verify predefined text on your page, the ability to test forms, logins and checkout processes, and the ability to collect additional performance data like transfer rates.
